
Sara Poli is Full Professor of European law at the University of Pisa where she teaches EU law and the law of EU external relations.
She has been visiting professor at Luiss (2024-2025), Rome and at the European University Institute (2023). She has been part of Jean Monnet networks on EU diplomacy and also on EU counterterrorism (2020-2024). She has held a Jean Monnet Chair on good governance within and outside the EU in 2013-2016, including activities on the EU neighborhood policy. She has been Marie Curie Fellow at the EUI and Robert Schuman Fellow at the same institution. Sara has previously worked the Universities of Rome ‘Tor Vergata’ and Trieste. She has been lecturer of European Law at the University of Southampton and teaching assistant of the College of Europe (law department) in Bruges (1999-2001). She obtained her Master of legal studies degree at the College of Europe, and her PhD from the Scuola Superiore S. Anna (Pisa) where she also did her undergraduate studies. She is co-writing a book on The EU’s response to the war in Ukraine and its impact on the EU legal order (Asser, Springer) with L. Paladini, M. Moraru, C. Portela.
